This role combines financial modeling and client relations in the sustainability sector, particularly within the carbon credit market. As a bridge between technology, finance, and sustainability, the ideal candidate will drive financial modeling, design and develop structures for monitoring finances with multiple project partners, and represent Wovoka in closing deals with relevant stakeholders in the Philippines and internationally.

This junior position will work closely with our COO and the carbon project development team based in Manila, with field staff across Bicol and Mindanao, and with our US-based CEO to help sell our work to the largest multinational firms and get multi-million dollar financing to fund restoration work with communities in the Philippines.

  • Analyze the carbon market and identify potential partners and project investors from climate funds and corporations with net zero commitments.
  • Assist the team in undertaking in-depth carbon market analysis, identifying trends, insights, and opportunities for strategic decision-making.
  • Supervise the flow of money from multiple sources and ensure proper monitoring of cash inflows and outflows working with our professional accounting and tax firm to address any discrepancies from the budget vs. actuals.
  • Work closely with the executive team in preparing and presenting regular company reports to stakeholders.
  • Lead in creating PowerPoint presentations and help present to clients the financial model of a given project to build rapport with potential corporate buyers and nature investors.
  • Working at a startup entails wearing multiple hats, thus our Finance Analyst can take on tangential responsibilities not mentioned above.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or related fields.
  • With 1-3 years of experience in management consulting, financial modeling, and/or related fields, although fresh graduates with strong educational backgrounds are welcome to apply.

  • Experience in the sustainability and decarbonization sector, especially in carbon credits or the carbon market, is highly desirable.
  • A keen interest in and eagerness to learn more about nature-based solutions and carbon finance.
  • Key desire to join a small team of a fast-growing startup and willingness to creatively solve problems, even outside of main responsibilities.
  • Willing to do fieldwork and community engagement when necessary.
